Liberated by the idea that the author was comfortable with her name being really small on the cover, we had the freedom to explore a hero image. Sparked by years of noticing the sound of birds chirping in the pre-dawn hour, I was inspired by the portrayal of a creature acknowledging its Creator even before the day is fully in view. Visually connecting the bird image to the “many paper edges” seemed to tell the story of showing up—over and over.
