Designer Comments

This book explores the ancient background of the commandments and views them in light of our contemporary setting so the cover needed to feel energetic, ancient and modern. I wanted to hint at the biblical narrative about the giving of the law so I decided to use smoke (which features prominently in Exodus). The text of the commandments is laid overtop of the smoke and wraps around the cover to give greater clarity to the title and invite the viewer to find out more.

Judge Comments

I love the cropped type on the left and the overall composition here. I’m also a big fan of the simplicity of black, white and red. The smoky background is also a nice element. DC
