Our designer and illustrator encapsulated this gritty account of a young woman’s growing up in the foster care system. Bárbara visually portrayed the 12 partial homes the author endured. This champion runner defied all odds and ultimately was led by God to a nurturing home. The hidden profile in the composition represents the woman God knew she would one day become.

Judge Comments

The warmth and texture of this cover illustration make it so inviting, and the subtlety of the main figure’s face appearing in the negative space of the townscape make for a really clever and satisfying cover concept. The use of hand lettering on the title drives home the fact that this is someone’s personal life story.
